The right foods

Hey all! So, I just found out that I can go online with MyFitnessPal. This is stinkin awesome. But the question that I have is, what are some good foods to eat and what are the ones to stay away from? I'm very new to this "eating right" stuff. I've always been the skinny kid, but the Army don't want me to weigh more than 174. I've been trying to use this app for a year and I've only put on weight. Probably because I have a hard time staying away from the foods I like. I try to eat a salad every day and I have a yogurt replacement for the candy bars. That part is squared away. And what's the facts about the calorie counter? Is it better for you to eat only up to your calorie goal? Or are you supposed to eat as many calories as you burn? I kinda think that you're replacing all those burned calories if you're eating them all again. Know what I mean? Let me know. Thanks.

Add some friends and read the threads (with caution, of course). Figure out what your BMR and TDDE are, and then eat the goal calorie amount, while eating back the calories. It works. And thanks for serving your country.

Also, open your diary so others can take a look and give advice. ;)
  • Ok. For starters.... What are BMR and TDDE? I'm very new to this. And so you're saying to eat up only the goal amount while keeping an active profile? I run a lot lately. Do I need to eat those added calories up or stick with only the goal? How do you open the diary up for others to see? Thanks a lot for the help already. Take care. And it's really nothing. To me, it's just a job with security. I know to everybody else it's a lot more, but I'm just used to it these days. I've been in for 11 years already. But thanks. It really does inspire us to keep doing what we're doing when we hear people that appreciate us and what we do.

Nevermind. I have my Diary open. I figured that part out. haha!
