Help!

Ok, so a couple of things are going to detrimental to me losing weight here. First, I just pulled a hamstring and I have to wait for it to heal before I can really do any working out. Grr! Second, I'm scheduled to have major abdomonal surgery in about 3 weeks, and it'll be like a month before I can even move! Any advice on how not to blow any weight loss efforts entirely?!

Hospital time can be deathly boring. Have books, tapes, ipod, whatever to keep you busy. If you're having abdominal surgery, there is also a good chance that you might not gain at all but lose due to balanced meals in hospital, quality, feeling meh, etc..

I would worry less about the weight loss/gain but focus on eating well and right to heal - your body will need resources to recover. That comes first. Whatever you gain, as you recover, WILL come off.

What sort of abdominal surgery? If they are removing stuff then you are bound to lose weight. There may be some oedema which is just water and will correct itself.

Will you have physios let loose on you - or even more scary, occupational therapists? (They used to do sticking tiles on bottles but these days those Amazons are terrifying)

I'm having a fibroid removed...it's very similar to a c-section. I don't think I'll have to do any of that stuff...thank goodness...just a lot of laying around and taking pain pills most likely...

Focus on eating well and not snacking from boredom. I had a c-section with my son last year and was cleared for walking for exercise (so long as I took it easy) after 2 weeks so maybe you won't be laid up as long as you think. Good luck.
