I did the South Beach Diet phase 1 for 2 weeks.....lost 6 pounds. This week I re-introduced fruit with breakfast and one other carb per day and somehow have gained 1 pound back?! I'm still at or under my calories for teh day and am continuing to work out (spinning, weight training, interval training). Why would I gaina pound?! Any advice woudl be greatly appreciated.

Are your periods coming up? It could be water weight. It could also be the shock of adding that carb in. In which case it will stabilize over time.

It's water weight. Also, when you introduce carbs, your body will store additional glycogen/water. It is impossible to gain fat unless you are eating more calories than you burn to include; metabolic rate, exercise, lifestyle, etc..

ps- I hope you are eating more on days you work out. If not, then you increase the chances of your body catabolizing lean body mass for energy.

Are you "regular"? Starting a low carb diet can cause constipation. Drink plenty of water.

Also, when I did South Beach (a great diet) I found that I could not have a Phase 2 food more than once a day without my blood glucose rising and my scale stalling. I still eat low carb as I am diabetic2 but I'm not specifically following SB.
