Vitamin D deficiency

I started my weight loss journey in November. A group of friends at work decided we were going to put $5 into the pot and whoever lost the most at the end of that month, would get the money. I struggled to eat between 1200 and 1300 cals per day and was exercising 5 days a week. I could feel myself shrinking. My clothes were feeling looser but the scale was being quite stubborn. I only lost 2 1/2 pounds for the entire month. The rules were simple. Exercise at least 4 times per week, you get one cheat day per week, and don't eat below 1200 cals per day. I felt so frustrated by my lack of progress.
In December, I started to get these really strange back and leg pains. Exercise was becoming unbearable. I felt very old and arthritic. I mentioned it to my doctor at my yearly physical. She took a Vitamin D level and it came out quite low. The minimum healthy level was 50 and mine was 25. At that time, she put me on 50,000 IU pills once a week for 4 weeks. She also told me to take a calcium supplement. I told her I was having 2 servings of milk or yogurt per day but she said that was not enough to maintain healthy levels. So I began taking the supplement. I take Citracel Max once a day and a multivitamin in addition to the 50,000 unit pills she gave me.
My bone and muscle pain started to slowly get better. I take my last pill tomorrow and the pain is nearly gone. I also noticed another unexpected side effect. I started to lose weight. After the scale stubbornly showing the same weight for weeks, I looked again and I'd lost 2 1/2 pounds in 1 week.
I'm not sure if it's the vitamin D or the calcium or a mixture of both. I also don't know if it's because my body finally got used to the exercise. I just noticed that the week I started taking the supplements, I lost 2 1/2 pounds. Since joining "Myfitnesspal" a week ago, I've lost 3 pounds.
I doubt that my deficiency is entirely to blame for my gaining weight. I was eating pretty poorly when I did gain it. I just know that having a low level can make weight loss extremely difficult. If you're eating what you're supposed to, having aches and pains that aren't normal for you, and still not losing, you might try getting a calcium supplement with Vitamin D added and see if that makes a difference. A lot of people are Vit D deficient especially in the winter months so it definitely can't hurt.

It's good that they caught it.
I have mild psoriasis from not getting enough vitamin D.
Theres no cure.
What it is... is I have like a rough spot on my knee.
It's not gone, it'll always come back.. but during the summer there is no sign (since the sun)
You really only notice it in the winter.0 -
Vitamin D deficiency in overweight people is very common. If you watch Dr. Oz he has mentionned this several times and actually recommends that peopl tryint to lose weight take a vitamin D (in addition to a multi).0
