How do you motivate yourself?

I've been falling pretty far off the bandwagon. A few months ago, I reached my goal weight and suddenly my motivation has disappeared. I have tried changing my goals but it hasn't helped much. I am beginning to gain it back (slowly... I've gained about 3-5 lbs now) I'm still fitting in my clothes, but my muscle definition is going away. I'm looking for new ways to motivate myself by hearing what works for you currently, or in the past. You don't have to be in the same situation as me, it's all about motivation and being able to find a new way to get my butt into gear.

Congrats on reaching your goal weight!
Motivation is intensely personal. I can only tell you what works for me.
I don't EVER want to have to lose 45 pounds again. I love that I have more energy, my health is great, and I'm more confident, and enthusiastic in everything I do. I'm simply not going to allow myself to regress to the old me. I like the new me so much better!
Maybe remind yourself why you wanted to lose weight in the first place? You likely don't want to backslide and erode all the progress you've made. Losing 3-5 pounds is so much easier than losing 30-50 pounds (or whatever your weight loss was). Why not refocus your energy now, so that you don't have a bigger challenge down the road?0 -
Good Morning...motivation is completely a personal thing...and what may motivate me may not motivate others, but I know personally, weighing in at 220 lbs over a year ago and finally doing something about it in March of this year, and thus far I have lost 48 lbs and still haven't reached my goal, but I don't EVER want to go through trying to lose this much weight again and I don't EVER want to not like the way I look in my clothes and I don't EVER want to feel as though I can't walk up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath and my knees and back hurting and I don't want to start getting health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, or even have a heart attack and then my children have to try to figure out how to help me if I become unable to take care of myself. I know things happen to people that have taken care of themselves all of their lives, but I don't want to just be careless and not try to be healthy. These are the things that keep me motivated and there are plenty of days that I would rather lie in my bed and get that extra hour of sleep instead of going to the track or doing aerobics but I will sacrifice my sleep for my health and my piece of mind! Hope this helps!0

congrats on reaching your goal weight!!!! I have too! finally! but I'm still working on a TONER me. my original goal weight was just somewhere to start, so I'm on to the one! which I really have no idea what that is, but oh well!
what motivated me to START was seeing myself in the mirror or in a photo & realizing I was the biggest I'd ever been & I WAS SICK OF IT.
for motivation, I got rid of my bathing suit (I started last year around the holidays) so that when it came spring time I would HAVE to buy a new suit & I wanted it to be SMALLER.
I sometimes wrote in a journal about my day, how I felt & what I wanted to accomplish in my weight loss the next day & in the future. on my bad days, I would read it & remember everything I wanted.
since losing weight though, I've obviously noticed that my clothes fit better or not at all. I've gotten rid of almost everything that doesn't fit. I don't wanna EVER wear those clothes again!! I just wanna STAY like this or better. that's my motivation.
last weekend, I purchased a FitBit.
I had read so many awesome things about it for months & I knew I wanted one. I was just debating on actually buying it. but I finally did & I LOVE IT. it syncs with MFP & the FitBit website has some amazing things that are helpful for continuing my weight loss journey!
since I've been wearing it all week, its made me WAY more conscious of my MOVEMENTS. I want to move around me so I can see that little tracker go up. it tracks your steps, how many floors you've climbed, calories you've burned (all day, midnight to midnight), etc.
that's what's motivating me currently!0
