Expresso Bikes, Auto-updates and caloties.

So the moment MFP connected up with Expresso cycles I started using them at my local YMCA. They're probably the hardest bikes you're going to use in just about any gym (except maybe the spinning bikes). I absolutely love that they auto-update flawlessly. However, the calorie count doesn't seem accurate to me. Is anyone else using these bikes and do they notice the expresso bikes being exceptionally stingy with handing out calories? Has anyone gone to the trouble of using a heart monitor to calculate actual calories burned, vice what expresso is telling us?
Also, is there an expresso group out there?

As for the calories that you burn on the Expresso bike, we are reporting your completed laps to your MyFitnessPal account. If you ride a half lap or pedal while not on a tour those calories don't get reported. What I do is warm up or cool down with 1 mile on Expresso speedway just to get the legs going beforehand. As long as you complete the lap it will be reported.0 -
Hey, thanks! I didn't expect to get an actual representative for the company!
I'll look into those links. It's reporting the numbers fine. Its just the calories seem a bit low for the actual energy exerted, especially compared with other fitness devices. Maybe it's hard wired for people who are in a bit better shape (see: not a fatass) than me?
By the way, I love your equipment. Always a hell of a workout.0 -
Going to resurrect a dead topic here but it seems appropriate for my question....
I have been using MFP linked with my Expresso account for a little over a week and have noticed that the calories burned do not match up when the results are auto synced into MFP. For the most part MFP consistently lowers the number of calories burned from what the Expresso stats actually are.0
