Hi,
I've just joined MFP few days back and maintain my daily calorie intake for 5 days in a row but I didnt see significant decrease in weight. Last night we have a company dinner and I have eaten lots, I guess 600 calories more than my allowance and was surprise to see a big decrease in my weight this morning. How do you explain this, am I on a starvation mode all these days so my body is not using all my calories? Please help.
Thanks,
Ann

Weight loss isn't a daily thing. Over a week you went over one day - so on average you were under every day. One single day doesn't have a whole lot of impact on the situation.0

That's a bit similar to me... My obstacles to losing weight... I have a problem that troubles my weight loss.. During the week I can lead a healthy diet, however, on the weekends, i have lots of dinners and snacks with friends and family and things get complicated. I tend to ingest too many calories (from salty snacks, cakes, etc..). Despite having already tried, I still could not control myself and say "no" to all these things. I wonder what to do after committing these "sins": drink lots of water? skip a meal? exercise? ...
What is your solution?0 -
It's been six DAYS.....your body does not have a calendar...You will have to learn patience if you want to keep doing the lifestyle...There will be WEEKS where nothing would seem to change - weight loss is not linear....
And you did not put a "significant" amount of weight in five days, why should you lose it so fast?0 -

DO NOT starve yourself during the week...
Allow yourself extra calories for weekends...
Eat smart snacks if you can - or less of it - after all, YOU are the only person who can control what goes into your mouth...
And yeah, drink water and take control....After all, you can control most of your bodily functions, you have enough self control to go to school or work or live with others, so why would putting food in your mouth be beyond your control?0 -

I have to agree with this. 6 days - 5 within your calorie goal and 1 over. Way too soon to have any kind of impact. Patience!0 -
Fridays nights are always feast but I make sure I spend more time exercising during weekends to offset those calories. Exercise does not need to be so formal...I clean the house, scrub the bathrooms, shovel snow or run/play with the kids.0
