Dinner Out - Chinese - what are the best options?

I am going out to Chinese tonight with the family, and really want to enjoy the celebratory dinner out, while not absolutely destroying my nutrition plan for the day.

Any suggestions / time-tested orders?

    chicken or shrimp with broccoli

Many Chinese restaurants have a special menu that is steamed and without MSG or oil

is it online? PF Changs has a nutrition menu onlline. Maybe you can look at that to get an idea. I know soups are good. Maybe some lettuce wraps or order off the app menu. Stay away from noodles..Try to remember rice is 1/2 cup and get brown plain rice. Ask for a box so you can box up half or more if you get a meal or share with someone at the table.

last time I was at an unknown Chinese restaurant, i asked for steamed shrimp & vegies (brown rice) and i asked for a small dish of hoisin sauce on the side. (could have been teriyaki) but on the side i can control how much sauce goes on the food.

if you are sharing food around the table, usually a beef & broccoli type dish is good (stay away from fried as a well as noodles)
you might check some favorite dishes in the mfp food record, look at nutrition information; but don't add them yet.
even soup can have a surprizing calorie count, so it is worth checking mfp nutrition info before you go.

have fun enjoy yourself. eat more vegies, less meat, less carbs. if you can, quietly eat better without making it a big deal, even if you go over a bit; the time with friends is more valuable :drinker: (just promise yourself extra workout time to help compensate).
