So, Friday was my first real day of grocery shopping since eating healthier, and I have to say, I was much longer in the grocery store than usual.....read every label checked all the sodium levels, etc....but it was worth it.

Anyway, before hubby went to visit his parents today, he asked what was for supper. I said I didn't know...he suggested spaghetti and meatballs....i said "sure".....IT WAS SOOOOOO YUMMY

The noodles, sauce and meatballs were all President's Choice products (Canadian company which is fantastic)

The Whole Wheat pasta was freaking phenomal, the sauce was amazing, and the meatballs were suprisingly well. I took everyone's advice and bought chicken meatballs (and I also got chicken and turkey sausages).

I only ended up having 3 of the meatballs (your allowed 6 for 160 cals), so with the meatballs, pasta and sauce it was a 420 cal meal in total (just a little bit over, but so worth it)....luckily i had a low cal breakfast and dinner so I could afford the extra 20 cals.....it was so good....i'm very glad to know that we can still eat the same things we used to, just healthier. I also got whole wheat penne and macaroni.....

I'm beginning to notice that i get full a lot quicker too now that my stomach is getting to use to not eating so much

Awesome! For me, this works because I don't feel like I'm giving up my favorite things. I may make them differently, or eat less of them, but it's something I can live with long term.

Im finding that too...realizing that I can eat some of my favorite foods maybe smaller portions or a tweek here or there has made all the difference to me (so far) realizing that I dont have to do without.....
One of my favorite meals is ziti with chicken and broccoli...I have figured out a few ways to make it that I can make it (with a bit of olive oil and some parm cheese) so that it is just as yummy as the 1200 calorie version at a restaurant.
  • I love the PC Blue Menu stuff too, their pasta is really yummy. I dont buy jarred sauce anymore, I make my own (so I can control the salt and stuff) but I have tried the PC stuff and I agree, its good :) I love finding ways to have the kind of food I love without killing my calories for the day.
