Photo Album blues..

I have the house to myself today and I'm looking at the photo collages on the walls of all our amazing vacations and holiday gatherings. There's me in the back. Always strategically placing my children in front of me so that only my head is showing. Then there's the one someone took of me that I wasn't expecting and I cringe at how big I looked, how my double chin shows so much from the side, or OMG did they have to take a picture of me while I was eating??!!!
I remember how angry I used to get when my mom or aunt would visit and they would pull out a camera. I hated pictures, especially candid ones. I needed to have my hair and makeup done to make up for how bad I looked overweight, and I made damn sure I was the one deciding when the pic was taken to make sure they didn't get bad angle. It was such a touchy subject (and I never told them why I hated having my picture taken) that I'm not in many family pics at all. It just wasn't worth the fight
for them. There are so many special days recorded in these photo books that I'm not even in.
So here I am, no longer ashamed of what I look like, and my poor auntie is still afraid to get out her camera, or she will say "I know you don't like to have your picture taken, but can I please get one of you and your girls?"
All this time lost! I could have done it a long time ago and got my life back sooner! I wish I didn't put it off for tomorrow (which lasted years) or find excuses about being too busy, or not having money for healthy food, or reasons why someone elses weight loss routine wouldn't work for me.
So if you are sitting there putting off your workout, get up! Don't keep waiting to live your life. You can do it :)
