    Water is the best diuretic.

However you can try dandelion tea...although that may just work because of the actual water in it more than anything else.

    Watch your sodium levels.
  • Cranberries are supposed to be really helpful too! I always use dandelion tea when I've got water retention, as someone already mentioned.

    green tea!
  • I tend to get edema pretty easily, to the point that I have trouble wearing shoes. Within the first 15 pounds of my weightloss, it went away. Exercise is really important, sitting can make you retain water. Lower your salt intake. Eat sensibly. If you have trouble with feet or leg swelling, try massaging them, that really worked for me to push some of the fluids out of those areas. I tried the asparagus route, but it didn't work well enough to make much difference. A prescription for Lasix did work, but I'd rather not take it because it messes with your potassium levels.
