MFP calories not accurate?

Sorry if this has been done before, but....
mfp says I should be eating 1240 calories per day to lose around 1 1/2 pounds per week. However, elsewhere sites have told me I should be eating at least 1500-1800.
Who should I believe? Do you eat at your bmr?
Thanks for helping!

You need to be eating at least 100 to 200 calories over your BMR. These programs only do math based on what you tell them, it's up to you to add the common sense. Set your budget to a less aggressive goal.0
