leg pains seem to stop me.

Hello everyone first time posting. I am around 340lbs down from aprox 360lbs. I have been walking around 3.2-3.7 mph almost everyday for the past month. While doing so I have been trying to add some jogging into it but the one thing that seems to stop me is the pain in my legs I can jog for about 30seconds then my legs are just completely on fire. I muscle through it for the last 10seconds then return to my normal walking speed of about 3.5ish mph. Any info would be great I really need to start running because I start the orientation for police academy november then start the actual academy in mid january. my shoes are walmart brand shoes because of the type of work I do with a insole in them. They are really great shoes despite being from walmart. Should i try changing my shoe maybe? or just keep doing what i am doing and hopefully my distants will increase.
