Finis Swimsense Vs ?

Hey MFPers,

So I finally started swimming again, but I don't think the calories on MFP are accurate for me, I'm not fast and I mostly stick to the breaststroke. So I started looking into swim trackers. MFP has teamed up with FINIS to support the FINIS, but its expensive, so I'm wondering if its worth it or if anyone has a recommendation.

Ideally, the tracker for me will determine DPS and cals burned as well as tracking time.


Any other suggestions are welcomed, I'm just lazy and like the fact that I can sync the Swimsense to automatically load my workouts, that way I don't have to anymore. : D (But I don't think it's worth that $150 price tag)

I was also peeking around at the PoolMate and PoolMate Pro. Its a bit less, but you lose that instant transfer/software sucks according to reviews on amazon.

I use a mac....

I'd love to hear from anyone that has one too. It sounds good, but does it work well?

I purchased this 1 month ago and it has been a disaster. The "swim bridge" is apparently not working and I've been communicating with their support department.

They have promised this will be fixed this week. If it's not fixed by Friday, I'm taking it back to where I purchased it together with the copies of about 20 emails back/forth with Finis.

Do not recommend purchasing this equipment.

Swimsense update. The bridge is now fixed and working. The calorie count is significantly less than what was calculated by Mfp. The information on workouts is more detailed. The jury is still out on purchasing. I'll check back after using it for a few more months.
