Could someone smarter than me explain alcohol calories?

Take a hard liquor drink like Whiskey ... 0 Carbs, 0 Fat, 0 Protein, yet it has 60 calories in a shot.

Wine ... 4 g Carb, 0 Fat, 0 Protein ... 80 calories in 6 oz

Corona Lite Beer ... 5 g Carb, 0 Fat, 0 Protein ... 99 Whopping calories in a bottle!

Where do these calories come from? What happens to them? Do they get turned in to fat or do they get metabolized? Should alcoholic drinks (without high sugar mixers) be accounted for in the food diary in the same manner as food? I have read that the 'beer belly' is a myth, and I believe it. I didn't lose any weight when I started dating my now-wife and drastically cut down my drinking to almost nothing.

Are there any other examples of foods or drinks where you can have 0 Carb, 0 Fat, and 0 Protein, but have a decent amount of calories?

PURE Alcohol has 7 calories/g. However, it is non-nutritive, meaning our bodies cannot metabolize it for energy. It generally gets stored as triglycerides (fat).
