It's my choice to turn on the tap.
The US government subsidizes corn farmers and corn to the extent that soda is cheaper than water (due to primary ingredient being HFCS). The fast food infrastructure has been entrenched in government policy for decades.

It's not just individual choice, unfortunately.

We can debate whats cheaper till the cows come home. What it comes down to is priorities. If you want your family to eat healthy you will find away. I have worked with a couple who spent over $300 a month on their smoking habit Plus $400 on cable and cell phones. They said the cost was too high to eat healthy. Again its about priorities.

I live in OH and I've definitely seen soda be cheaper than bottled water, at least on a decent sale. I does floor me how much bottled water costs!

Cheaper than some brands of bottled water sure. But it's definitely not cheaper than tap water!

Regardless, nobody drinks soda instead of water to save money. That's the most ludicrous excuse I've ever heard.
