I am currently 156 (last time I checked) and really trying to get to 125. I am 5'5''-5'6'' so that's not too low a weight. But besides the weight loss, I decided to start going to the gym. I went on Friday and I went this morning (Sunday). I'm in college so I'm thinking of going 3/4 days a week. I am trying to build up endurance for running (at my lower weight 130 i could run for a while but not so much now) so I ran a half mile and then biked for 4 miles. Both days. I plan on doing this till next week sunday. Which is when I'll run for 3/4 mile and bike for 4 miles then the next week a mile and biking for 4 miles then the next run for a mile and bike for 4.50 miles. Is this a good plan? I am trying to reduce my thighs (23.5inches) My measurements are currently 35-27-38 and my goal measurements are 34-25-36. Any tips to give me (besides the don't eat your exercise calories back and eat healthy)? I am new to cycling so i'd appreciate some.

To lose inches you need to do strength training!

Personally, I think doing a variety of exercises is the best so you aren't as inclined to get injuries from chronic over-use and your work out different sets of muscles. I am big on weight-training but I also mix it up with running, cycling, swimming and occasional classes like kickboxing, yoga, bootcamp, etc. If you can, mix it up but you definitely need to do weight-training. That is the best for maintaining/building muscle and losing inches.
