Splenda?

What are your guy's take on Splenda and other sugar substitutes? Do they cause weight gain? Are they OK in moderation (IE 1-2 packs a day)? Let me know your thoughts!

If you are using 1-2 packs a day, that's 15-30 Cals. of sugar.
For me, I wouldn't bother. Just use the sugar.

I don't have an issue with artificial sweeteners and if I want to make something sweet AND I don't want to spend those calories on sugar, I'll use artificial sweeteners.

I have yet to see anything even remotely conclusive that shows they are harmful at normal human doses.
Research about how non nutritive sweeteners effect hunger levels, has been inconclusive and I would also add that if your diet coke is what's causing you to eat cake later on that day, then you should do something about it. Thankfully we are a group that tracks intake so it would be very clear to see if this were happening.

If I want to sweeten something I use honey or brown sugar only, artificial sweeteners while calorie free, are not healthy in my opinion...use normal stuff but less of it...

I just go for sugar or honey if I want sweetening. The artificial stuff tastes nasty to me.

I find naturally sweetness in nearly everything, but when I bake, it's always Splenda and/or xylitol. This should go without saying, but I will anyway. It does NOT cause weight gain.

I use splenda in my coffee/baking and IMHO can say that it does not cause weight gain.
