Only lifting weights

Hi!
I have an injury on my knee. It's called a jumper's knee. Because of my injury I try to burn fat by only lifting weights and no cardio (because cardio hurts, lifting weights doesn't).
Does any of you do this as well? And does it works? (Read on the internet it's even a better way to burn fat then Interval cardio)

yes it works in terms of fat loss but i noticed a huge drop in my cardiovascular fitness. now i'm back to doing both. cardio might not have a big effect on my weight loss goals, but i still want to be able to run a 10K and lifting alone was not helping with that0

Its worked for me. I haven't lost any weight but I've gone from a size 8 to a size 2. Im pretty happy with that. I used to do cardio (insanity of course) and I actually lost 5lbs doing it, but did not go down any pant sizes. Also, I just like lifting more. I do stronglifts.
edit: Just wanted to add the 3lb loss on my ticker was probably water since it happened in like 3 days. Im actually not trying to lose weight anymore since Im obviously getting smaller without losing it. I like the extra ticker pic though so I just left it :-)
Also, read this http://www.marksdailyapple.com/case-against-cardio/#axzz2AhzQJGTY its why I stopped doing cardio unless its for fun hikes or something.0 -
Is it impact on your knee that is the problem or leverage? If running is painful, how about swimming or cycling?0

spinning
aqua zumba
chair zumba0 -
Or upper body only rowing (feet planted on floor).0

I do very little cardio and I shed fat when I diet for it. Squatting to full depth can cure your jumpers' knee. Not saying it will, but mine went away in a couple months when I went from running and playing basketball to lifting and playing basketball.0

Weight lifting can easily be adapted as a cardio workout as needed. Rows, squats, deadlifts, and surely almost any other weight exercise can be done with a lower weights and higher intensity to push your heart.
I do like catching up on TV while on the elliptical sometimes though!0 -

I was running and doing HIT until I overdid it and got the jumper's/runner's knee. Since I was training for a half marathon, I took a break and did nothing for 8 days for my knees to heal, and bought straps to put around them temporarily. I continued running with the straps until I finished my half, then did nothing for a week, and am now back to just the weights. Read MarksDailyApple. I know my legs were incredible when I was lifting, and running was much easier, had I not overdone it back to back (HIT one day, then jumped from an 8 to a 10 mile run the next. I know, foolish, live and learn). I miss the running, just because of the freedom I get out of it, but will probably return to it once my legs build up again, limiting it to 5 or 10k.
Try working you hamstrings and quads, doing squats, deadlifts, using body weight first and working up to heavy weights. Just make sure you are working them both.
As far as the weight is concerned, with lifting heavy weights, you continue to burn even after you are done lifting. Muscle burns fat. And don't focus on the pounds, focus on the inches or the way your clothes fit.

I do practically 0 cardio. works for me.0
