Been a busy few weeks, I started a voluntary job recently, just a Monday morning, but after 7 years out of the workplace, its pretty tiring!
Ive offered to have my 2 nieces for the day tomorrow - lovely girls, but I'm pretty tired already and its only just gone 8pm.

My bodys telling me I need sugar, kettles boiled for a 40cal cup of hot chocolate, any ideas to get me through without a binge?

I find when craving sugar, it often means I'm not getting enough protein. Others have noted this as well. So try some string cheese or yogurt instead of hot chocolate.
  • Peanuts seem to help me fight off sugar cravings!

First, figure out if you really hungry or just looking for the emotional "pick-me-up" that sugar provides. If you need the comfort of food, then allow yourself to have some and forgive yourself for having some. 40 cal hot chocolate is a good pick. Maybe some dark chocolate squares and a handful of almonds? Chocolate dipped strawberries? If you are really hungry, eat your meal now - a healthy meal. If you aren't satiated after, then have the small dessert. Or, if you know what is triggering the emotional reaction (and craving for sweets), try to deal with it head on instead.

Also, as someone said above - usually when I crave sugar, I'm not getting enough protein.
  • Thanks for your suggestions, I've never heard of the protein one before, so I'll watch out for that.
I've eaten my meals on time today and feel full, so Im not craving food because Im hungry, but I did run up and down the stairs 10 times which has revived me a little - my son actually asked me who I was running from! lol
