I know I'm not starving, but.......

I am so hungry today! I've eaten almost 1000 calories (89g of protein) so far and I'm still hungry! I've been drinking water like crazy today too. Dinner isn't for 3 or 4 more hours. Suggestions anyone, please?

I heat up a can of french cut green beans. If I am really hungry, I will eat it.0

How's your food intake been last few days? Exercise? If you are really hungry and not just bored and or "eating emotionally" you might need to eat something...I talked myself into an apple last night 'cause I am learning to tell the difference...since I *did* eat the apple, I knew I was hungry and not just "eating emotionally" or "bored."0

how many calories left? do you have room for a little snack? I try to have multiple small meals throughout the day, and I'm hungry for each one.0

If your hungry, eat. Munch on some fruit or veggies. Also, try amping up your Fiber. It's fiber that fills you up and keeps you full.0

I had that issue all weekend! It was horrible and unfortunately I did go over my alloted calories for the day. Some suggestions- low calorie fresh veggies ie cucumber and celery. Crunchy, so it keeps you busy chewing. I find that helpful on the days I struggle. Another, which is also crunchy, are the whole grain goldfish- a serving is 55 of those bad boys. Looks like so many in a small bowl!0

Eat.
Yep. I eat when I am hungry. Sometimes it makes me go over on my calories and sometimes it doesn't but I'd rather eat and feel better than to be really hungry.0 -
Eat something healthy and if you go over in calories, exercise it off.0

Ugh, hate days like that! I try to avoid eating between meals no matter what. It does help a lot to do something that will keep your mind and hands busy. A few days ago I thought I'd starve before dinner but took the dog for a walk instead, and the time before dinner went really fast.0

I haven't figured out the quote / reply part of MFP yet, so please bear with me.
I have about 630 calories left for today. I'm stuck at work, so I have only a few options (whole wheat bread, peanut butter, cheese). I didn't really want the fat associated with either of those choices, but I may just have to give it up and eat. I just ate an apple half an hour ago, but my stomach is still growling. I don't get it. Today isn't any different than any other day. And.....I haven't worked out yet. I guess that will buy me some extra calories. Thanks everyone!0 -

I would eat something sensible (piece of fruit or crunchy vegetable) or something hot like tea, broth, or soup. I actually just finished a hot cup o' cream of chicken soup for 60 calories because I was feeling hungry. The heat makes you feel fuller.0

If your hungry, eat raw veggies!! If they don't sound appetizing enough, your probably more bored or obsessing about the act of eating rather than HUNGRY0

The peanut butter and cheese both have protein and yes, some fat. But, the protein (along with the fat) in either of those choices will work to keep you full. The whole wheat bread with a bit of peanut butter would be my choice. Fiber from the bread and some protein and fat from the peanut butter.0 -
Let's say you are eating the correct amount of calories per day, then here are my thoughts:
Prevention is the key. Current situation cure; an apple. When you are 'starving' it does not seem too appealing but 15 minutes after you eat it you will feel fine.
For me this usually happens when I ate simple carbs (breads, pasta, starches, sugar, alcohol) or artificial sweetners and/or did not have enough fiber in my diet. So, great on the protein, but take a look at your fiber and simple carb intake.
ETA: Just realized you had that apple and are still starving? What else did you eat? My bet is that you had something with sugar in it and white or wheat bread (the difference when they enter your body and how they affect it is way overrated). Get your fiber from veggies, low glycemic fruits, ground flax and Chia seeds. Things like bread and sugar will ramp up your appetite like crazy. The absolute worst culprit for creating an Jedi level appetite is alcohol.0 -

Eat a healthy snack high in protein. Bottom line is that you should listen to your body and eat when you are hungry.0

I try to have a low cal snack between each meal to tie me over.0

take your mind off the hunger with a brief bout of gladiatorial combat with a co-worker. When you are soaked in the viscera and humors of your foe and are basking in the roar of those gathered to watch, you will have forgotten all about the growling in your stomach. But should you have dispatched all worthwhile competitors from your office pool and none still stand before you, yet still the beast in your belly growls, you may enjoy a sensible snack of whole wheat crackers, peanut butter and a glass of milk.0

I work a traditional 8-5 job. By the time I get home I've eaten almost 1400 calories in 4 meals. I have a lite dinner and lite snack before bed. If you aren't at 1000 yet and you have 3-4 more hours before dinner, you aren't eating enough. I always plan my food ahead of time, I pack my lunch box, and that way I always have my food at hand.
You said you had bread and peanut butter. Great choice. One slice of bread, (who needs two?) and one tablespoon of peanut butter. Measure everything.0 -
Big workout yesterday? I eat a smallish snack with protein, carbs, and fat in it immediately after working out, then I don't get really hungry later. I also get really hungry when I haven't had a workout. Or when I over-ate the day before. It helps me to eat a huge portion of veggies plus a raw salad with a regular serving of protein for a meal, maybe a little fruit, but no starch or refined sugar. That gets me back on track. To tie you over to supper time, try a half a protein bar or a drink of milk or a dozen almonds. One of these should help.0
