Any way to get rid of salt in canned beans?

So I am making some Spanish rice and I ran out of pigeon peas. I used a can of pinto beans I accidentally purchased at Walmart. I did not realize how much sodium (they were salted) was in it until I started logging the recipe (Over 1200!). Its too late to start all over so I was wondering if I were to drain the beans and wash them next time, would it help knock off or eliminate the sodium? Or should I just go back to soaking dried beans?

not sure if you have a loblaws chain store but president choice has certain types of beans that are no salt added.

My mom used to put in a potato cut in half during cooking when something was oversalted (like soup, chili etc). Spuds suck up salt. Then you just remove the potato. :)
