hi i am new here

my name is Tammy i live in avondale, Louisiana i am new to myfitnesspal i am 45 a mother of two grown children married for 21 years .have always given for my family but now i am looking out for my self and that is making my life my main priority and that is to get healthy .i am currently almost over a 100lbs over weight and my first goal is to drop 50 lbs.i have struggle the last 5 years with my weight .i am currently a diabetic and i take 5 shots a day .my cholesterol is out of wacko ,my triglycerides are sky high and my a1c is in the number of a 9. i keep putting my self off to take care of other things .and just recently i decided that i am first .this is going to be a challenge but with a few good friends and co workers i will accomplish my little goals that i have set ..and that is going to be one step at a time

    You should add me. I am down 102 lbs. Partly hard work, partly gastric bypass surgery. I lost 40 lbs before my surgery and I have lost 62 lbs since surgery. I had surgery in November 2011. I was on 7 shots of insulin a day plus pills. My A1C was 12. I also was on 2 high blood pressure pills. Years of not putting myself or my needs first. Years of excuses and abuse to my body. Now I am off all blood pressure meds and off the insulin. I take only 2 pills for my diabetes now. My last A1C was a 6. I feel so much better. I am not at my goal weight, and my weight loss has slowed down alot now. So now I am keeping track of my calories using mfp and tracking my exercise. I go to the gym at least 4 times a week. You have to really want this to keep doing it every day. You have to do it every day. If you mess up one meal or one day....you have to just say to yourself, "that's ok" and get right back on track.
