Bodyfat help please.

I'm going round in circles... I want to know my bodyfat. Sounds straightforward enouh but it's not. I have used so many sites, fat2fit, scoobies, fitnessfrog, livestrong....and many more.

According to these sites I range from 23% to 55%.
I have a new exercise bike which tells you your bodyfat from holding the handles, this says 43.8%

Can you tell me which figure I should use? I'd like to think the bike is the most accurate.

Here's my stats if that helps.

My weight is 271
Height 5' 10
Waist 43
Hips 56
Hip to waist ratio 0.79%
Forearm 12
Wrist 6.75
Neck 15

Thanks in advance folks.

why does it matter? its just a number.

i dont know mine, but i know i am reducing it as my clothes are getting loser and i can see some muscle difinition...

what difference will knowing a number make? you will still do the same things to reduce that number... just get a tape measure, and measure yourself once a month...

You'll need your neck measurement for the Military BF % on fat2fit.

if you want something accurate go to your doctor...if you are just looking to lose body fat, just pick one that measures consistently and use that one as your baseline and progress...

I have called my GP and asked but they don't measure bodyfat! I couldn't believe it.

use the exersise bike one , cause there is no need for measuring your self and from what i know there reasonably accurate , passes a small electric current from one hand to the other , and it uses the time it take with your other info to figure out your body fat.

just keep to one and one only that way you will be able to tell if you go up or down

    ^^^ This

    I have been using http://www.scientificpsychic.com/fitness/diet.html

If you just keep using the same one, then you can see the progress from that one. Mine showed me starting at 67.3% in July and now it shows 56.4% - four months later.

I think the ones that use measurements are probably more accurate than the exercise bike. Alternatively, get yourself some body fat calipers. They are pretty cheap and more accurate than calculators.

I have body scales that tell me my BF% but I also used calipers (the average of 3 measurements per site) and they were pretty much the same readying with both, within 2%, so I think you bike might be the closest IMO.
    Hope this helps.

From now on, I'm going to use the Army calculation on fat2fit. It has me 4% lower than the machine at the gym.
