Walking - not enough?

Good Morning!

I'm new to exercise. If I start out walking three times a week for about 45 minutes help with weight loss? Or is that not enough?

*edited to add that I am using MFP to track my calories and stay within range to reach my diet goals

Weight loss comes from diet, primarily
    fitness from exercise.

So, walking with a good diet is plenty to simply lose weight.

Walking is a great way to get things going but keep in mind, weight loss happens in the kitchen. Walking will help you burn calories (which may contribute to or increase your caloric deficit) and improve cardiovascular fitness.

It's a great exercise. Over time, though, you will find that's it's too easy. Your body will get used to it. You'll want to start walking faster and maybe eventually start adding running.

Start with 20 minutes every day instead of 45 minutes 3x a week.

Thanks everyone! I had read 'somewhere on the internet' that walking 3 days a week wouldn't contribute to any weight loss even if practicing a healthy lifestyle/diet because it wasn't enough. I was so discouraged and thought that CAN'T be true?! I have to start somewhere! LOL
