Can water give you heartburn?

I have recently increased my water intake quite a lot, and 2 - 3 weeks into it I keep getting heartburn.
Or could it be down to medium bowl of cereal for breakfast, soup for lunch, 5ish peices of fruit a day and a medium bowl of pasta/jacket potato for tea. as a rough daily average food intake?
I certainly eat less than I did - the only thing I have done is increase water.
Any ideas?

Yes, I think so. Especially if you suffer from gerd iirc. I do but since i'm taking nexium now it's no longer a problem. (not so much the water causing it but exacerbating it by raising the level of acid in your stomach to the more tender areas of your hiatal sphincter and beyond).0

I installed an under sink filter, but before that I used a Brita.
