Tips for Stopping Smoking
Bonjour,
My boyfriend announced yesterday that it was "the first day" of he rest of his life, and he was giving up smoking. In the six years we have been together he has made the decision to stop 5 times but has always hit a hurdle sooner or later (it doesn't help that all his friends and work colleagues smoke). Anyone got any tips on what I can do to help him help himself once and for all? I'm afraid to even broach the topic incase it makes him think about smoking!!!
Anyone that stopped smoking- what worked for you?
Note: he states he isn't (wasn't?) a particularly heavy smoker- 8-10 a day. I don't know if that means anything.

A lot of people can quit cold turkey. My husband did.
I used Chantix and it worked perfectly for me. But it can have some side effects.0 -
Last cigarettes are the worst. I've had a million of them.
What has caused him to want to quit? Is it the same thing that brought you here? The beauty of making a change is that it is a lot easier if you are accountable to something or someone. Tell him to keep a journal. Whenever he wants a cigarette, free write for a few minutes. It will take his mind off of the cigarette and keep him actively focused on something else.
I have a friend who uses an electronic cigarette to quit chewing. I don't know if it has worked for him.0 -
I switched from analogues to electronic 18 months ago, best thing I ever did. About 5 years ago I was successful with Champix but after 6 months fell back into bad habits. e-Cigs are wonderful things but it's not really quitting as much as transferring your addiction to another method, albeit a much, much less harmful one.0
