Well I am down 8 pounds and I weighed Sat and gained 3 pounds and I was so upset. I had worked really really hard that week because I wanted to meet my first goal of 10pound. I ate right walked and started to weights. So over the weekend I was bad had Birthday Cake and ice cream , out to eat made the best choices I could, out to eat again lastnight. So for fun I weighed this am and was scared and I am down 2.5 pound please someone explane that to me.

    Faulty scale?
Just starting to lift can cause your muscles to retain water for a while.

It's easy to fluctuate 3 lbs throughout the day due to food and water intake and output. Weigh once a week.

If you were working your muscles really hard then it could be water weight. I have heard that weight comes off in chunks. Keep doing what you're doing. You'll soon find it will all even out. Good luck.

I'm not 100% sure of the timeline of your loss/gain form your post, but just be aware that your weight on the scale doesn't just represent how much fat is in your body. Your weight is also made up of your bones, muscles, organs etc... and a lot of water. Your water weight fluctuates a lot. Some of the things that make you retain water are an increase in sodium consumption, an increase in carb consumption, a new exercise programme, or increase in exercise intensity, and hormonal changes. Starting to lift weights, when you haven't before, is definitely likely to make you retain water as your muscles repair themselves. Having a few days off could easily make you lose that water weight. On top of that, you won't eat the exact same weight in food every day, and differing amounts of food/waste in your system can affect the scale too.

Overnight gains or losses of a couple of pounds are unlikely to be fat, or at least won't be all fat. Water will be playing a part too. So, don't panic, keep doing what you're doing, and try to look at the overall trend of your weight, rather than the numbers you see on any given day.

Water weight. Everyone's weight fluctuates on its own. You need to weigh yourself same time, place and circumstances each time for it to truly correct which is nearly impossible. If you weigh yourself in the morning after pooing that can be close.

It's completely normal for a persons weight to fluctuate daily even hourly!! If you're going to weigh yourself constantly..you'll have to get used to it and not let it bother you. Or if you're like me....I said screw you bathroom scale and weigh myself about once every 6 weeks. It keeps me sane!

I hate when that happens. I was up 4 lbs last weigh in and a couple days later it's back down to what I was the previous weigh-in. It's annoying, but it happens. Don't stress too much.

How often are you weighing yourself?
Your body is always in constant flux. Track your sodium. ensure you drink PLENTY of water. And dont fret one bad day. Make sure to reset your scale, if digital, before your weigh ins.

I don't put stock in what the scale says, so I'm literally no help.

i'm glad you posted this cause i had the exact same question. i was down 6 lbs, then within two days i gained nearly 2 lbs. i hope it comes down when i properly weigh myself (naked, friday mornings). i know it's hard not to get discouraged, but hang in there! i'm sure it will come down within a couple weeks.

    Water.

    Scale in different position.

Bottom line - it takes 3500 calories to make a pound of fat. It isn't fat. That leaves water as the most likely cause. Look to your sodium.

Second, NEVER eat too much because you're unhappy with your weight. That's so counter productive.
