Water headaches - To much water??

Hi All,

I generally drink around 5 x 250ml water bottles a day, sometimes a lot more, maybe 8-10 bottles and sometimes maybe only 3.

I sit down all day at a desk job, and find I never have an empty bottle on my desk.

The thing is - I get headaches a lot, I find it is when I have drunken a lot of water I get these headaches. Now most would say sodium deficiency, but I don't think it is that. If we are told to drink 8L per day, I am only drinking around 2.5-5.

Help!

we are told to drink 8 CUPS a day, not 8 liters. 8 Liters is about 34 cups
  • I meant 8 Glasses haha - Not 8L!!!! Woops - 250ml is your standard glass, so i'm having half of that and still getting these headaches!

when you feel a headache coming on, drink a Gatorade. It will help balance out electrolites and salt. I've had the same problem, and it's helped immensely

I would say no to gatorade. Not really a healthy drink IMO.

Good idea tho :) But are there any less sugary alternatives? Home made electrolyte drinks?

It may not be healthy, but it takes the headache away really fast. And they have some that are low calories.

I get them occasionally, but they are minor, and don't last long. But I generally drink at least 4 liters per day...more if I do a lfot of cardio.

Honestly, I wouldn't blame it on too much water unless you have had at least 2000ml for the day. My urologist says that many of his patients are walking around chronically dehydrated. I was one of them...until I ended up with a HUGE kidney stone. I have gone from drinking maybe 750ml a day to drinking 4 bottles of 960ml each per day. The only time I get a headache is from sinus pressure.
