Little did I know even though he was now "Independent" that the past 2 months he would go WAY the other way to the point we now have signs in our yard, we have to watch every news show on "his" views, and every morning and evening is a conversation about how right his party is and how wrong mine is. He is now spending his days at the call center calling people to encourage them to vote for his candidate - which would be okay except he's supposed to be looking for a job. I guess this is making me resentful too which is adding to my frustration.

Frankly, I wouldn't put up with it. My parents are opposite parties and get along just fine.

To compromise, there should be no yard signs. Or, you should be allowed to place your candidate's sign next to his. When you watch TV, you should agree to watch non-political shows.

I wouldn't put up with that if I were you.

Yes, I should mention, I told him I was taking the sign down, that is was too much, and he got one from the other camp today and put it up too. I guess that was his way of making peace but honestly, I rather have none. And he has a very large pin - but I won't let him wear it when we go out together.

More than anything I'm just curious what makes someone change so drastically in such a short amount of time.

My hubby and I have been on opposite parties forever. We just do our own thing and get along fine. If we do discuss politics it does get ugly. So we don't. I know how he's gonna vote and he knows what I'm gonna do. I'd remove the yard signs if I were you.

Man friend and I are on opposite ends but we respect each other. And love each other and our peaceful house enough not to bring it into the house.

I think that you'd be unhappy w him regardless of his political affiliation because he should be out looking for a job; not volunteering. Thats what I'd be irritated with. He sounds like he's turned into a man child.
