Today, it is the 3rd anniversary of my first 5K. I began running I quit smoking, and was obese. Since then, I have logged a couple thousand miles, including two marathons.

I have lost some weight, but not what I thought I would being a runner for three years. What I have gotten, however, is better. I am far fitter, healthier, and happier. I sleep better. My resting pulse went from 100 to 50. My cholesterol went down, my triglycerides were cut in half. My kids are involved in sports, and care about their physical fitness. I am refocused on diet now, and the weight will come off, as it is now, slowly.

It is not all about the scale. This journey is for health and well being, too. Keep exercising even if you gained a couple pounds. Your body will thank you for it in ways you can't see.

:o)

You are my hero! I can't imagine running as much as you in 3 years. Honestly. I'm pretty content right now doing 5Ks but marathons?!? That's amazing! Your body (and your family) will thank you one day for all the good you are doing for it!!
