Tips on wieghts/streghth training for women

I have been going to the gym for about 2 months, I love the treadmill, but I know I have to build muscle and I do weights at every workout, I don't have a routine except for the treadmill 20-30 minutes, I run for 1-2 minutes at 4.5 incline at 3.5 then walk for 1-2 minutes at 3.5 speed 3.5 incline 3.5. Does anyone have suggestions or tips on using weights to build muscle. I am trying to lose body fat and build lean muscle. When I get on the machines or use free weights I don’t know if I am doing it right, I am just confused about it.
