So i had a few days off last week, i didn't go over the top with the sweets but i only went to the gym twice and treated myself to a few treats, but still had salads for lunch and dinner, nothing over the top or that should make an impact.

I have gone from 9.11lbs to 10.08lbs, i have been to the gym every day this week so far, i have eaten really well, lots of fruit and veg but the scales were up when i weighed myself this morning.

Is this because of my few treats? i'm really determined to lose 10lbs between now and christmas and this isn't the best start.

Thanks :)

    1. Set your weight loss goal to .5 lb/wk. Given that your calorie goal is 1200/day, I'm assuming it's higher unless you're very short. With only ten pounds to lose, your goal should not be higher than that - you'll basically be eating less than you should and not seeing the results you want.

    2. You probably went over your normal allotment of calories a few days. This can lead to water weight "gain" - it is not a real gain at all and should be gone in a couple of days - you would have to eat thousands of calories over your maintenance to actually gain weight.

    3. Most importantly - Log your food. Without logging, you have no idea how much you really ate and whether you could have possibly gained by going over maintenance.

Eating well =/= eating enough. You have gained water weight because you can't gain a lb of fat unless you are eating 3500 calories more than you burn. If you are an active women (like you say) then you should probably be in the ball park of 1700-2000 calories a day (scary isn't it). Fuel your body so it doesn't fight you to lose weight. Eat adequate protein to prevent muscle loss and if you haven't done so already, start weight training to also help keep your muscle and improve your metabolism.

There is ~10days in october where you did not log any food. Another 10 days where you logged only ~700kcal which is definitely not enough and might work against your goals.

IMO you shoudl try to eat your calories, don't starve yourself!
Plus try to be more consistent with the logging.

What are your stats. Maybe 1200kcal is even too low for you?

When you really work out a lot your muscles need to heal. They absorb water to heal and you will gain wt. in the short term. I would suggest doing cardio excersizes several days a wk. and strength training the other days. I would also suggest a rest day every several days to let your muscles heal. You don't want to overdo them and getting hurt. I hope that this helps. Don't concentrate on the scale in the beginning, focus on how your clothes are fitting. Feel free to add me for support and motivation. My name is Kimberlee, 49.
