Hi, I'm a fan of cous cous with vegetables for lunch (either sald veg or roasted veg). But I've considered trying quinoa instead.

What's the difference ? Would I use it in exactly the same way as cous cous.

Thanks
Suzanne

Quinoa is a high protein, high fiber seed and cous cous is essentially white pasta. You could use it like cous cous, or you could use it like rice, or you could use it like hot cereal.

If you want a grain instead of something made of semolina flour like modern couscous, use millet. This is what couscous was originally made from centuries ago. You won't be able to tell the difference as millet is very neutral unlike quinoa which has a very distinct flavor.

I use all diffent types of grain as my side dish or cook them into stews and soups

Barley, Millet, Quinoa, kasha( buckwheat), bulgar, corn

All great minimally processed, slow to digest carbs with loads of protein yummy

CousCous, and other pastas even whole wheat ones I very rarly eat - if eat just a portion it does not full you up and the carbs are processed and fast absorbing

    this.

I LOVE quinoa...hot with veggies like you would do with rice or cous cous...or cold tossed in a salad...I love the texture of it and it seems to work well in anything I have tossed it into (soup ect)

The more I eat quinoa the more I love it. And like couscous the flavour comes from what you pair it with.

    Nutritionally quinoa kicks coucous' *kitten*.

I think in the middle east when they say cous cous they actaully mean bulgur which is cracked whole wheat
