New Perspective on Fitness and the Holidays

This time of year my semi-annual weigh-in / tape-in for work is complete and I do not have to worry about it until spring of next year. This normally leads to 2 months of overeating and many adult beverages leading into the New Year. Start of the New Year, I usually step on the scale and start stressing and killing myself in the overcrowded gym and on the road/track to shed the winter weight. Sound familiar? I'm taking a new perspective. The next 2 months for me will be prime time for the gym and the road. The crowds in the gym will die down due to the holidays and the number of people on the trails will thin out. I'm gonna take this time to enjoy myself and take satisfaction in the fact that I won't join the hoards of people and their New Year's resolutions. I realize it will be difficult and won't be without temptations. I will mess up, but I will keep trying. I will set realistic and attainable goals to put myself that much further ahead on 1 January rather than starting back at square one. This will definitely be different than my holidays of the past but I'll be better for it. How do you make it through the holiday months?
