UK carb totals??

I wonder if someone could help me out. Ive been trying to cut carbs down following a weight gain when I went Vegetarian 9 months ago and have since eaten mainly carbs.

Im following a great book and it advises in the first 2 weeks to carb cleanse and to try to eat under 20g of carbs a day.

It explains that to reach 20g of net carbs you subtract the fibre amount from the total carbs on the nutrition info of the food....which i have been doing until I read an article that says I should not be doing this in the UK and the packaging here shows the carb value already minus the fibre.

Can anyone confirm wheer this is correct. If so I have gone over 20g every day of my first week :0(

This might be a really silly question to most, but Im new to low carb and would just like a bit of guidance please?
