Bagels?

Is it healthy to eat a bagel once in a while if it fits your macros? I really am in the mood for a thomas pumpkin spice bagel. It has 54 carbs and like 8 grams of sugar, but if I fit the rest of my day around this, do you think it is OK? I know people say 1 bagel is equal to 5 slices of bread... but I haven't had one in SO long! And I LOVE them!

    I don't see why not. I have a bagel 2-3 times a week.

Mmmmm saw that at the grocery store the other day and might be getting me some soon. I don't think it would hurt but I would try to see if they have that kind as a bagel thin instead...

I just discovered bagel thins and I love them! I always used to eat bagels, so this was a real win for me.

I eat bagels all the time.. but I buy "thin" bagels (w/ tofutti spread)
And I don't see any issue having one like you mentioned, especially if you fit it into your day. Sounds good.

The Thomas's Pumpkin Spice Bagel thins are something like 110 calories and totally work for my bagel fixes. Our supermarket also sells day old bagels sliced quite thinly. Another way to cut the carbs and calories from a bagel.

I have had them and they are OK, but I am craving a REAL bagel, if you know what I mean!:drinker:

Denying yourself things you love takes the fun out of life.
If you can fit it in, by all means, have your bagel!

Eat anything you want if it fits your macros (IIFYM). That doesn't mean survive on Snickers, for you haters.

I LOVE bagels, and used to live in "bagel land" but thank god I now live in a place where they don't have any idea how to actually make a decent bagel so I have zero temptations. If they fit into my calories I'd eat them--I'd eat them all :) Yum, a good NYC poppy seed bagel: I die....

I fit a Western Bagel onion bagel with cream cheese into my eating plan a couple of times a month. Love.

Definitely! Especially if you are fitting the rest of your day around it. If you ever want one on a more regular basis, Western Bagel makes a great Alternative Bagel that is only 120 cals (for the wheat), .5 grams fat, and 1 sugar... They are yummy toasted with a little butter and drizzled with honey. They make 4 other flavors too. They are much more like a "real" bagel than the thin ones. I like the thins for sandwiiches.

Eat it and test your blood sugar afterwards. That's the only way you'll know for sure.

I eat no grains due to diabetes. But it is ok to cheat once in a while as long as there no feelngs of guilt

i found Kim's light bagels are really good! Stop and shop sells them. They are 110 calories for one, and they are the same thickness as a regular bagel. they come in different flavors too!

Eat a bagel. Unless it's deep fried and covered in gravy, I wouldn't worry so much. I never buy bagels but that's only because I like english muffins and crumpets more. Mmm crumpets...
