cake revenge ?

So everyone I work with is getting very sick of people bringing in cakes and sweets.
We had 2 birthdays on Monday, and holiday treats.

And yesterday we had a visitor from another site that brought more doughnuts and muffins. And someone else brought in a pack of biscuits (so he wouldn't eat them  )

Also we're very short staffed, only 5 of us here, so the 20 doughnuts and muffins from yesterday works out to 4 per person.

I'm tempted to start putting whats not eaten on the day on the desk of the giver in the hope that people stop oversuppling.

Does this seem to harsh/ a good idea??

And before people suggest it, I can't bring myself to throw food out.

Just leave it where they get put and people will realise if it's stacking up not to bring more. I'm not surte it's your job to be the cake police and you risk making yourself unpopular if you try.

Also if you're understaffed and there's only 5 of you in, some of those 5 must be bringing stuff so not 'everyone' is sick of it?

One pack of cookies was brought in by the person, who requested noone bring in any more sugar.
And as i mentioned the other stuff was brougth in by someone who isn't normally at this site.

Guess I'm just having trouble resisting every time i go to the kitchen for a glass of water.
especiailly as I'm still hungry :(

In an old job the treats used to be put on the shelves next to my desk - didn't even need to get out of my chair, just reach up.

Also, when the Indian girl brought back some of traditional Indian sweets they sat around for ages as not really to our western tastes.
Turns out independently both me and my boss were occasionally taking a bit and throwing it away to make it look like someone was eating them :).

If you are in an office setting, does housekeeping come in at night after everyone is gone? Maybe leave them with a note of appreciation on them for the housekeepers if they want them?
