Dumbbell Lifting

I want to get into lifting heavier weights but I'm in a difficult situation because I don't have room for bars or benches where I'm staying and I'm moving in two months so I don't want to sign up for a gym membership. (The gym here wants you to pay for three months at a time.) What can I do with dumbbells? I can buy some heavy dumbbells, that's not a problem. I just need an idea of where to start and what exercises/sets/reps to do.
