I can't exercise...or can I?

I have a chronic bladder disease that is sometimes active and other times in remission. About a week ago it became active again, meaning my pelvic muscles are *very* tender and swollen. Even walking from my house to the corner store is quite painful, so getting on a treadmill is out of the question.

This could last for a week or for 6 months, it's an unpredictable illness :(

So does anyone have ideas for how I could burn calories without using those lower-abdominal/pelvic muscles? I'm not trying to lose a big amount of weight (5 - 7 more lbs would be more than enough), so I might just wait til my bladder calms down to exercise again and make sure I don't go over 1200 calories - would that be okay?

You need to follow the advice of your doctor really...

You don't need exercise to lose weight. Weight loss happens in the kitchen, fitness happens in the gym. Just watch your calories and workout again when you can.

I'm sorry you have this disease. I agree, talk to your doc. Eat as healthy as you can. You can probably do some basic weight lifting while sitting too (hand weights) that wouldn't put strain on the area of concern. Good luck.
