Salt and Home-Cooking

As a treat my husband had lunch in his building's cafeteria today rather than the salad he normally has for lunch. He had a steak sandwich and some fries. He just emailed me to tell me that he could barely eat any of it because it all tasted so salty to him. For the past couple of months we've pretty much avoided all processed foods and I've been making all our dinners from scratch. I omit the salt in most recipes and we just season to taste at the table. Now that he's been on a light salt diet, he's really begun to notice just how salty a lot of previously 'normal' foods are. Anyway, I thought that was pretty telling.
