You do realize that pretty much every fruit and vegetable raised in the modern world is genetically modified right? For centuries farmers have saved the best seed, crossed it with other seed that they liked and created the varieties we have today. The fact that the process can now be sped up in a lab doesn't make it any different than cross pollinating plants in your garden or a green house. Sure does make good press though!0

I would be more concerned with the child slave labor than the GMOs, but that's me.0

Oh FFS! Let them be kids! You be the parent and monitor how much of it they eat. This is fear mongering at its finest.0

Actually the process of making a GMO organism is very different. Rather than selecting for traits you want (traditional farming process), creating GMO organisms involves inserting the DNA from one organism into the genetic structure of another. This is a very different process.0 -
Please explain why foods containing GMO's constitute poor nutrition. Thanks.0

Where do I begin on why GMO's are terrible for you/your kids.
The average candy bar contains these ingredients: Sugar (GMO Sugar Beets), High Fructose Corn Syrup (GMO Corn), Corn Starch (GMO Corn), Soy Lecithin (GMO Soy), Soybean Oil (GMO Soy), Modified Food Starch (GMO Corn), Fructose, Dextrose, Glucose (GMO Corn), Cottonseed Oil (GMO Cotton), and Canola Oil (GMO Canola)
Monsanto (The creator of Round-Up a commonly known Herbicide) has genetically modified the above mentioned products to be resistant to their own herbicide. Which means that the farmer can spray his crop with said Round-Up and all the weeds can die, save for his crop. Glyphosate, which is the main active ingredient in Round-Up is directly linked to diseases like Cancer, Parkinsons, Autism as well as known to cause allergies (Where have all these gluten intolerances suddenly come from?), birth defects, and intestinal issues.
Monsanto has also developed another type of GMO crop that allows the plant to create its own insecticide- when the offending bug bites the plant, it bursts the bug's stomach. There are studies that show consumption of said plant, leading to 'leaky gut.'
There are some really impressive documentaries that I recommend: Genetic Roulette, The Bitter Seed & The World According to Monsanto.
Also, read Silent Spring that was published 50 years ago. It's still relevant to what we're experiencing today.
Child labor is employed in the manning of GMO crops of third world countries. Also look into the suicide rates of farmers in India due to GMO crops. Unfortunately a lot cannot afford the machinery that North American's have to spread Round-Up on the crops and you should see the effects that direct contact with glyphosate has on the human body.
GMO's are not something to be ignorant of, they are damaging our health and our environment0
