When to lower calorie intake?

Does MFP automatically reduce the number of calories as you lose weight or is there a certain point I should reduce?

That is an excellent question. I would like to know as well.

Otherwise, there's always plan B: to do it manually.

if you are loosing weight in a steady sustainable way, you should be able to just stick with it.

I think some people re-calculate their BMR / TDEE and adjust accordingly, but probably you don't need to.

if your weight loss stalls, then there are ways to shake it up like eating more for a couple of days or blitzing the exercise.

for casual weight loss types, i.e not 7 days a week gym types you shouldn't need to change it up too much. and if you were already loosing weight you don't need to go lower because you weigh less.

After 10 pounds, unless you've tweaked your settings in the meantime, MFP will prompt you to recalculate your goals.

I have not seen mine recalculate automatically that I know of but I have been told that it does. However, I go into my settings and then into Update Diet/Fitness Profile. I check all the entries and settings and then click on 'Update Profile". That is when I noticed that the number of calories I had been allotted prior to that had been lowered. It wasn't much, maybe 10 - 20 calories per day but, over the course of losing 42 pounds, my daily calorie allowance has been reduced by about 60 calories or so by doing this little update.

    Hope this helps
