Is fitbit accurate?

Is the fitbit accurate?

I need it for calculating out my calories used everyday... (I have no problem using my HRM Watch for workouts.... )

I wanted to have a BodyMedia/Bodybugg but thats not possible as long as I live in Norway... :(

Have a look at the new STRIIV Play. I think USA Amazon will ship it to Europe. It's like a fitbit and links with the STRIIV app if you have an iPhone. Allows you to play games and keeps setting you targets.

Fitbit is as accurate as the info you put into it. It calculates (with the Harris-Benedict formula, I think) using your gender, height, weight, and age for your burns.

Pedometers by nature are inaccurate because anything that might jar them slightly will incorrectly register as a a step, leading to more calories burned throughout the day than what you actually did. Also, they don't take into account the differences between calorie burn once you're properly warmed up (roughly 5 minutes sustained activity) and simply walking to and from the bathroom.

Don't agree with the first part. The fitbit etc don't get effected by small movements like the old fashioned type used to.
