They are killing!!!!!!!!

We have work Christmas party 12/1 and I want to lose a few by then and then we have a cruise 2/4-2/8 and I want to wear a bathing suit and be comfortable, although I am afraid this won't happen :-/

I agree completely! I swear this last 10-15 lbs will take me as long to lose as it did the first 70 lbs!

I hear ya. Last 14 for me but still sucks all the same. Plateau-ville is no fun. Good luck with it!

Edited to say that my ticker says 8 pounds to go...that's to my MFP goal weight...my personal hope I make it goal is still 14 to go.

    Ditto
  • Same here. 5kg (11 lbs) to go (though I "just" had to lose 10 before that) and it's taking forever. I want to try mixing up my routine (a lot) starting next week and see if that helps.

I thought so too, but I've lost 4 of the last 10! I set a lower goal (.5 lb per week) so I don't get so discouraged. I'm not quitting!

Ditto, I never thought I would hit goal, I sat at the same weight no matter what I did for weeks on end.

Yes it is harder. And you must take it slower and be more patient than before because with less fat on your body your body can't handle as much of a deficit anymore. This is truly where accurate calorie counting matters, and exercise, day in and day is what gets you there, it's not an exciting process, like watching grass grow.

Losing weight requires tremendous patience. You will not lose it when you want it or where you want it. The body does its thing. Some apparent plateaus can last a month or so. You cannot make it happen faster. You must focus on two things; calories and exercise. Nothing else matters. Scales and metrics don't matter. The day in and day out grind of exercise and calories are all that matters. It is not very exciting until things fall into place. You get your victories and you ride one victory to the next.

    The Theory of Fat Availability:
•There is a set amount of fat that can be released from a fat cell.
•The more fat you have, the more fat can be used as a fuel when dieting.
•The less fat you have, the less fat can be used as a fuel when dieting.
•Towards the end of a transformation, when body fat is extremely low you
may not have enough fat to handle a large caloric deficit anymore.

At the extreme low end, when your body fat cannot ‘keep up’ with the energy deficit
you've imposed on your body, the energy MUST come from SOMEWHERE. This is
when you are at risk of losing lean body mass during dieting (commonly referred to
as ‘starvation mode’). This happens at extremely low levels of body fat, under 6% in
men and 12% in women [Friedl K.E. J Appl Phsiol, 1994].

Set your MFP goal to half a pound a week if it isn't already. Slow and steady wins the race.
