Tough Mudder Advice thinking about 2013 in MN or IL

Hi. My name is Robin. I live in Racine,WI. I am considering signing up for my first Tough Mudder in either Chicago or MN in 2013.
I have been running fpr about a year and a half. I have done one 5K at 38.22 and two half marathon's...my first was 3.5 hours, my second one was just under 3 hours. I work with a trainer and he has challenged me to do the Tough Mudder to keep my weight loss and journey going forward. I would do it solo unless I find team mates. I am up for the challenge but at first I doubted that I was ready for this.
I have a foot injury and am in a boot til the end of the month, which may set me back from a training point of view. The one in Chicago is in May, I do not recall the date of the MN one....since I have never done any mud run let alone a 10 mile+ one, I do not know if there is enough time to train. Any advice on training would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!

MN is July 20th and 21st. I think that would be enough time to train.0

Running is great and the start you have it fantastic.
However, spend a little bit of time focusing on your upper body. This is probably something you could do even with you boot. I did the TM in Nov 2011 and was definitely lacking in upper body strength. Thankfully, I had a fantastic team that were willing to help me out. Even without a team, you usually find someone to hang out with. And everyone helps everyone. The only issue is without a team, you don't KNOW someone is there to help you. You will need to ask for help or just fall on your face enough times that someone offers help. (I'd suggest asking).
I say go for it! You have 6ish months to train. That's about how long we trained.0 -
