Well..I thought this was rather interesting. It's a jean guide for women--goes over pocket placement, color, stretch, pocket size, and other interesting details that all factor into what makes the perfect pair of jeans. If it helps even one person I've succeeded! :)

Enjoy!

Tall thin girl problems are JUST as bad. Most pants that fit my figure, make me look like I'm in a damned flood.

I know that feeling! My issue is finding jeans short enough that can fit over my butt! Ones that fit one part almost never fit the other. The best I've ever found were American Eagle jeans. They are my absolute favorite

No need--find good jeans and a good seamstress. 10 dollars for a hem is worth it--or just learn to sew. Also, they have this hem-tape that you can just use an iron with. So you can have nice fitting jeans! :)

Why on earth can't we buy jeans like guys do? waist size X length.

My entire adult life I have worn the average length. Now petitte is usually for those who are 5"4' and below. I am 5" 4 1/2'. Now that I have lost some weight, the average are to long. The petites are the right length when I am standing but sitting they are a bit to short.

It's not that easy. At least guys that care about what they wear.

Maybe I'm just ultra particular about my jeans, but I don't think any of the ones pictured look all that good. There was one pair where she said the bum looked small and curvy, and I couldn't even tell it was a photo of a bum... it looked like they were on backwards.

I have no brand loyalty or preferences. If it's in my budget, I try them on. If my butt looks good, I buy them. Pocket placement is key. I have a high round bottom (that I've worked hard to get). Pockets that are too low look horrible... I don't want the pocket halfway down the back of my thigh. :ohwell:

And while I'm definitely not tall, I gotta side with the tall girls. Jeans that are too long are easy to fix. There's no cure for jeans that are too short.

It doesn't matter - shortened jeans almost always look dorky (unless you go to someone REALLY good).
My issue is long legs, short waist, which is better since low-rise has become popular, but because they are suppose to fit at the hip there is always a big gap at my lower back, which dips in considerably. It's always something...
  • Awesome! This is what I'm talking about :glasses: it's not about what's in style but it's about what works for you and suits you :) Thanks for sharing xx

You are right, the photos do the "study" no justice, and I don't agree with all of her conclusions. However, some of them are dramatic, and in the real world (how they look walking down the street) I think they all probably look much better than in the photos. Also, age appropriateness is a HUGE consideration, and one that more people should pay attention to.

Same height and the same issues. Or the petites are the right length until you forget and put them in the dryer...

I know, she should have reviewed a more broad spectrum of women. Not just the shapes of bottoms but plus size as well.

True about boot cut. I haven't bought anything but boot cut jeans in years. I dunno about the pockets, though, because I don't spend a lot of time looking at my own *kitten*. Maybe I should start now!

So do I. I find that lots of her points still apply.
