How do I work out with injuried knees?

Hi everyone!
I like to run and play soccer when I'm not injuried, but I've developed an overuse injury in both of my knees from being too active (half marathon training, soccer, dance, and Quidditch). I can't do my necessary PT until I go home for Christmas break (I'm a college student).

So I've mostly been trying to rest my knees as much as possible. But I don't like the idea of doing nothing, and I'm concerned about slowing my weight loss too much.

Does anyone have any ideas of some knee-friendly workouts?

Swimming and yoga :-) My favorites!

Oh .. my gym - 24 Hour Fitness - even has aqua classes and aqua zumba .. great calorie burning and resistance (to strengthen)

If you've got access to a pool, I agree that swimming would be great. Otherwise without knowing exactly what sort of pain and things you cannot do right now all I can suggest is walking? I have a chronic knee injury and walking has been very helpful to my weight loss. But definitely follow the dos and don'ts of your doctor, avoid things like lunges, squats and stairs/Stairmaster machines and don't "push through it" because that'll hurt you in the long run.
