Could someone recommend a good but affordable heart rate monitor? I am wanting to get one to wear all the time so I can just see how many cals I burn on an average day instead of wondering. :) Thanks for any help.

They work best for focused workouts. Fitbit does a decent job of tracking your daily activity. I use both daily.

I use the New Balance N4 for women. I really like it. It was simple to set up and I think it is accurate and helpful.

I'm now on my third one. Each one was a different kind.

For daily calorie burn though something like the bodybugg would be best.

I just got one from Walmart. I think the brand is sportline. I can't really afford to spend too much so this one was right up my ally. Plus it seems to work really well! I have had it for quite a few months and I have to say, I can't imagine working out without my HRM!

Mine is a Pyle that I got on Amazon for less than $30. I wear it for my workouts, I don't know how it work to wear all day long. I like being able to see my heart rate go up, and then knowing when it has slowed enough to stretch and stop moving.

Heart rate monitors are not intended to be worn all day and will not be accurate. Look at the Fitbit instead.

A HRM isn't meant to be worn all day. They're only accurate with an elevated HR so what you're looking for is either a FitBit or Bodybugg. The FitBit is cheaper but it's really a glorified pedometer and won't accurately track strength training, cycling or most exercise other than walking. A BodyBugg is more expensive and requires a subscription.

Nothing is going to be exact on the calories you burn on a 24/7 basis.
