Detox's and Fasts?

I know I know, healthy way is to eat right. But I only drink water and maybe a coffee or a hot tea once a day with limited sugar or honey. I've been very good about this. No soda in 20 days or iced tea! It's a weird thing but I like it. I've heard of so many horrible detox's and fasts. But I want to know if they actually have results without having bad consequences? I'm considering the water fast because my logic on fasting is that its part of religions right? I feel crazy talking about it but I'd be open to something that could work. My trouble is calorie counting so I need more structure to my eating without a really widespread diet, if that makes sense...
So if anyone has success, please share.

  • I attempted the fresh and raw fruits and vegetable detox...the two and a half days I did it, I lost weight. But, then I got hungry. hehehe So, I ate. I gained some of the weight lost in those two days back, but not all of it.

When choosing a detox or fast, just remember our bodies need nutrients. I read somewhere that the reason why some people get "sick" and dizzy or nauseous is because of the lack of nutrients that our bodies need. So make sure you have a good vitamin regimen going on.

I did feel a little better after getting RID of TOXINS. lol

Google the 3day diet. I lost weight on that too...however, I got tired of tuna.

    Hope this helps!

Tuna is good in my book, thank you. I'll google that. Fresh fruit and veggie detox sounds like basically all I eat now aside from wheat and cheese.
However... 3 day wont work unless I can remove chicken and other meats from it. I eat seafood once a week but I'm a vegetarian :/ Won't work properly heh
  • hmm...i've never tried the water fast but i was following this chick who did it and ended up losing like 40 lbs in 30 days but the after effects are horrible and to do this for more than a couple of days seems very unhealthy. i just have this mindset that starving your body of food will absolutely get you results but the second you start eating again your body is going to go into survival mode and store everything you eat which would probably result in you gaining everything ( and probably more ) back : ( dont want to discourage you but i would stay away from this one. just keep up what you are doin. i am only going on 9 days with no soda and that was the hardest change i've made!! i'll take the exercise just give me back my coke!!! but seriously the longer i go without the easier it gets and i actually find myself wanting more water the more i drink it. so it sounds like you are already on the right track! no need to go overboard.

I don't plan to do the water fast for long, 30 days is quite insane... I don't think that'd be good at all. I was talking more a day or 2. I've done it for surgery before, not exactly unhealthy to me to do it for a small period of time.
  • oh! sorry about the rant then :)

Most doctors will tell you that just drinking your 8 glasses of water and eating fresh home made foods will detox your body plenty, that's what your livers entire natural function is. Religious fasting is more about subserviance and discipline and not about nutrition. You will definitely drop a days worth of calories but unless you're eating 3500 a day that's not going to shed much weight if that's your main goal. I'm obviously not a great fan of detoxing and starving as I can only really see negatives with no real benefits so I have to admit I am biased but I genuinely think that just eating better combined with a little exercise is the way to go :0)
  • Google the Water Detox...a women got brain damage from TOO much water.
